Title: Music Scheduler
Post by: boroda on February 11, 2017, 11:48:43 PM
Description
Plugin allows scheduling playback/start playback on MusicBee startup of multiple static or autoplaylists or Auto-DJ.

NOTE:
Plugin has options to prevent PC and monitor from sleeping if MusicBee is playing music. It doesn't matter if playback is started by plugin or manually. The only requirement for the options to take effect is that the plugin must be installed and enabled.

Going to test this. I needed exactly that last year for a few events and might need it eventually

Edit:

Using the last 3.1 patch update.
Created a task and when I pressed OK I got this:

Yes, working now.

I'm testing it out and:

- If a song is playing and the scheduler task kicks in, I think it should wait for it to finish.

- Maybe the possibility to add days of the week in "Start date"?

- When the task kicks in, it loads the playlist but plaback is stopped.

many bugs are fixed. week days support is done.

This Plug in is super useful !

However I encounter several hiccups using

Basically, I have 5 playlists that need to start at different hour during the day, everyday.

When the computer in plug off the task stop so the next playlist is not playing or it stops after 2 days, is there a way to configure it to run on battery as well and to remove the time limit?
I tried to modify the task directly, but it doesn't launch the music afterwards and when you click on apply again, it reset the task to the default settings.

Can the VB files be modified to change the settings in the windows task scheduler?

Thank you for your time

plugin uses windows task scheduler if you tick 'wake up computer to play this task' option (dont remember exact wording, its option in the table).
2 day limit is intational and it would be very hard to change this.
i think i didnt understand the problem with running notebook from battery.

Thank you for your shift answer and help.

It is just that the task is setup to stop when running on battery, but it is not that problematic.

I think removing the limit could make the plug-in even more useful, let me know if you decide changing that =)

Hi there, I installed MusicBee and your Scheduler a few days ago. I can't seem to get the Scheduler to work.

I created my own playlist - 5 tracks for a total of about 14 minutes. I want it to come on about 15 minutes before I have to get up.

I can't make .jpg's show up in the preview, so I'll try to explain. In the Task Editor, I have

Checkmark, checkmark, checkmark, start date (5/3/2018), checkmark, start time (8:10:00 am), playlist (Younger than Yesterday), checkmark, end date (5/6/2018), checkmark, end time (8:32:49 AM), NO checkmark, duration (blank), NO checkmark under the "power off" symbol.

In the Music Scheduler Settings panel, I have Turn Off Mode: Leave PC on, and also Wakeup PC on music start (though this PC is on all night anyway, with the monitor turned off).

I think the start date (5/3) and the end date (5/6) mean that MusicBee would play this play list on the mornings of May 3, May 4, May 5, and May 6 (until 8:32 AM). But maybe I'm wrong?

I'm on Windows 10 version 1709.

Thanks!

Hello boroda74,

I uploaded screen shots just before you replied. They should be in the post right above yours. Are they what you are looking for? Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks!

Yes, the way I "explained" it at first was pretty bad! At the time, this board wasn't letting me upload pictures. I thought it was because I am new here, but I think the board was just having a bad day.

Hey there, boroda74,

I like the idea of this plugin very much, but there's one thing that keeps me from using it:

Rather than starting the defined playlist, it would be much cooler if there would be an option to queue it at defined date/time after the currently playing song. This way there won't be an abrupt interruption when the plugin's effect kicks in. I would immediately start using it when there's support for that.

Greetings

actually i dont understand this request, you already can specify start date/time of a playlist. or you mean start playlist *later* specified date/time, just after current song is finished?
Title: Re: Music Scheduler
Post by: Sizzlinol on May 15, 2018, 08:22:04 PM
I asked for an option to only queue a playlist (which then of course starts after the end of the currently playing song) instead of starting it. I know there's already a similar option, but it just won't work for me for some reason. It only stops after the now playing song and nothing happens afterwards. Queueing would be more elegant for my taste and would probably fix this issue. The plugin as it is now only starts working if the player is on pause. At least that's what I'm experiencing. Hope that makes things clearer.

is it intentional that the plugin only works on auto-start when musicbee is closed or when musicbee is stopped or paused ? because when my playlist should start to play and another song is playing at the same moment musicbee just stops playing

any chance to make a change ?

if i understood your correctly, you can untick start day/time for all following playlists afrer the 1st one and all playlists will be played in sequence (just queued). if you want to queue some playlist into now playlist you can right-click a playlist and select 'queue next'.

i believe sizlinol meant auto-queueing, hence scheduled

it's not my language, but maybe you can understand me this way

kind regards

thank you for the changes, boroda74

music starts playing now, but it doesn't seem to respect the defined day or time. for example, at 19.30 the playlist "23" should start to play on Tuesdays and Thursdays , but instead the playlist "All Decades" started to play when I tried it a few minutes ago

"All Decades" should only start to play daily at 00:15, 08:00, 09:30 and 14:00

I worked with an Excel table to make sure nothing interferes

here is a screenshot of my schedule :

thank you in advance :)

edit: i also noticed there is weird behaviour when you skip tracks two to three times in a row after the start of the playlist. the queue empties itself and playback stops then

sorry, i was wrong. double-clicking opens task instead of running it. but task will be started automatically on mb start up if you untick 1st playlist start time. so you can either schedule task OR start it manually (by running mb).

edit: why dont you want to auto-wake up pc at specified time? then you wouldn't need to start task manually.

Hello

I am trying to get Scheduler to work at my school so that it will play the national anthem and then later play music at the end of the day but every time I try to test it, it just plays one task after the other. I also have a few national anthems and would like it to pick one and only play that one but it seems to play them all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend using the Windows Task Scheduler since I also never really got this plugin to work, so I made use of the WTS many years ago. It's really easy to setup. You will need to create a specific folder in the Task Scheduler and create all your task schedules in it. Use some command lines to make your schedule work. Here (https://musicbee.fandom.com/wiki/Command_Line_Parameters) you can find all available command line parameters. The first three commands are the most important as you will need one of them to target your playlist. You simply replace the xxxx with the actual playlist path. For example: "D:\MusicBee\Playlists\Auto-Playlists\Task Scheduler\Automated Playlist.xautopf". (with both ")

Then you can define triggers and actions within the WST. There you need to select the option to start the program / script:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\MusicBee\MusicBee.exe" (again with ") [use the file path where your MusicBee.exe is located]

And then you make use of the argument; example for the playlist called "Automated Playlist":
/Play "D:\MusicBee\Playlists\Auto-Playlists\Task Scheduler\Automated Playlist.xautopf"

With triggers you can define when your playlist starts or stops.

You can create as many tasks as you like. Here's an article about the WST and how it can be used if you need some help: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-automated-task-using-task-scheduler-windows-10

It might take a bit of time of reading and getting used to, but it's certainly worth it investing little time into this killer feature.

the only bug i've found is that the plugin can't correctly wake up pc on windows 10/11. it's fixed. You need to run MusicBee as administrator to edit tasks, which can wake up PC. There is no need to run MusicBee as administrator *every time*. Also, disable requirement to unlock Windows on PC wake-up. you'll need to resave tasks (just open scheduler and click OK) after updating plugin to correctly wake up pc by plugin.

Two new options are added to the plugin:

Prevent the PC and monitor from sleeping if MusicBee is playing music. It doesn't matter if playback is started by a plugin or manually. The only requirement for the options to take effect is that the plugin must be installed and enabled.

Hello Boroda,
First thank you for your work, maybe it is just missing 2 or 3 tips to configure the tools.

In my case it does not work, I tried to tick and tick different options :
- option 1 is the only one working but it plays only one song >>> play and start time are ticked, all the others ones unticked
- option 2 not working at all > play, thunder and start time are ticked
- option 3 not working at all > play, thunder, start date and start time are ticked

Any idea ? Thanks
