Title: decompile bitmap skins
Post by: Bee-liever on May 29, 2016, 09:21:26 AM
Is there any way to decompile or disassemble an .xmlc skin to extract the skin file, if I have the source skin originally used?

Sorry, but Steven never made the decompiler.
He was able to give me a text dump that contained the skin.xml file that I used with the SkinCreator and a source .xml file to create an .xmlc skin I had already posted.

....... never mind, thanks anyway.

BTW, I found a SkinCreator and sources for Metro Skin (http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://app.box.com/metroskins-sources) on the internet, but it seems to be very old.

I think it's from 2012 and I wonder if there is a newer version available.

Could not find anything on the MusicBee website, only a dead link.

Maybe you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks again .......

Try an advanced search for "metro" in the Skins sub-forum.

....... just tried, but could not find anything other the one I got Metro Skin v3.5 Flat (https://app.box.com/s/n5qpzq81e2v8oofxws41).

Did I miss something ...?...

I did a search on an old drive of mine, and did find some 'Metro' skin stuff.

I have no clue if it's useful to you, or how recent it is compared to what you already have, but here it is:

did you try and contact the author via PM?

....... thanks for your replies.

I did get the sources for DarkRed after I contacted endeavour1934 via p.m. but without the SkinCreator.exe.

Just the images, the skin.xml and DarkRED Flat.xml.

The files I got from hiccup contained the same SkinCreators I already got, but I still do appreciate the effort.

Just wondering why the SkinCreator is not officially available for download anymore.

Any particular reason for that ?

Anyway, I think I've got enough to play around a little, just created a complete player icon set which I'm going to implement now.

Would be great if one could use SVG files, but PNG's are fine as well.

Like the MusicBee player a lot compared to Foobar2000 which I was using before.

Thanks again and I definitely will be back seeking some advise from you guys .......
