Title: Title Formating
Post by: SarcasticWit on October 12, 2015, 12:31:21 AM
Let me first apologize if this has been answered before, however my search did not turn up anything that I found that addressed this issue...

I came to MusicBee via a recommendation from Lifehacker, and while I have only used it a couple of times, I definitely like it...

My question has to do with the format of the audio files when I burn them to cd, for example, for use in my trucks cd player...

When I play the cd through MusicBee, the titles of the tracks are correctly noted, however, when burned to cd, it only shows the track numbers...does this have anything to do with the way that either the files are currently named, or does it have something to do with the way the files are burned to the cd?

The are burned in the proper order, its just the track name does not appear on the CD...

Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks or explanations on this...

Dave

Hi, welcome to the forum!

The audio cd format itself doesn't retain tag info on the tracks. A player with a connection to a source like Gracenote can id them, but it is not built into the CD.

If you're viewing the CD drive via MB, you will need to add the artist, album, and title columns in order to see that info on the main panel.

If your truck's CD player can play MP3 tracks, then you can use MB to burn a data/MP3 CD rather than an audio CD.  By using MP3 tags will be maintained.

Are you trying to burn CD's containing MP3 files, or 'normal', so called red book compatible audio-cd's?

If the latter, and usually your CD player does display artists and tracks with normal audio-cd's, it probably supports CD-Text
Then your burning software should (be able to) also write CD-text to the discs when burning them.

I don't know if MusicBee's burning tool supports CD-Text. Maybe somebody else can answer that?

Can we get an update on the CD-Text question? I have MB v3.0.6132.

If MB does not support this, can someone recommend software that does?
Currently I only have 1 disc to burn. I would like someone else to be able to see artist/album/track etc.

Thanks!

MB does not support writing CD-Text. It -should- be able to read it.
