Title: Playing searched items
Post by: xzil3d on August 22, 2014, 03:56:15 AM
Hi there!

I was wondering if anyone could please help me with this question:

When I want to play a searched item, I'd rather it not form a new "now playing" list and play all items of my search result.  I'd much rather it find the song in my library and play the next song in line _there_.  Is this possible?

Thank you!

I can't find a way without playing the song. The closest thing is right-click the song from the search result> Search> Find Artist or Find Album.

If you can play the song, then it's easy.
- Play the song
- Reset search box by clicking on x button
- Right-click the song from now playing list> Search> Locate in library, or just double click on the song info from main player display.

in the Now Playing preferences, if you tick "prune played tracks" and set to 0, then the playing track will always be at the top of the Now Playing list

If I understand the question correctly, I don't think it's possible to do exactly what you want without extra steps.  You could right click on the track and choose search > Locate in Library, and then play it.

You could use "Play More > Play Album Now" to get the whole album.  You might also consider changing your Play Now preferences to "queue selected tracks next and play now", which will keep the whole search/library from being loaded, and keep the Now Playing list from being cleared each time you choose something new.

Once a track is playing, you can double click the title in the player to locate it in the library, if that helps.

There IS a way to locate the searched song in the library without playing it.

From this,

- Play the song
- Reset search box by clicking on x button
- Right-click the song from now playing list> Search> Locate in library, or just double click on the song info from main player display.

Instead of playing the song, right click on it> Queue Next
Then do the rest.
