Title: Question regarding MusicBee use (new MB user, please help :) )
Post by: DarXnake on August 19, 2014, 12:32:52 AM
Hi MB community !

After years using Foobar2000, I'm trying to find a new music player, and MusicBee feels awsome ! But, to me, it's missing some features I like and am used to, so could you please help me find them if they already exist ?

Hotkeys
---
* I'm looking for a way to randomize playlist. I don't want to use the shuffle function, it just doesn't suit my need. What I'm looking for is a global hotkey to execute a "Right click on Now Playing > List > Shuffle List". The function exists, but I'm missing its hotkey !
* Found "General: Locate Selected Track in Windows Explorer" hotkey, but I'm not able to find the "Locate Currently Playing Music in Windows Explorer" one...

Sort by
---
* Well, what I'm trying to do is, for instance, "filter" albums by selecting an artist. When I filter, MB always sorts my albums by their name. I'd like to see them sorted by release date, not by their name. Is there a way to do that ?

Bug... ?
---
* This last question is more like something I think should be fixed (or found as an option), but maybe I'm wrong. In the (ridiculously awsome) Compact Player, I click on the magnifier to see the "Now Playing Assistant". By default, "Artists" is selected. I click "Albums", start my search, listen to my music, then switch MB off. When I come back, do the same thing, "Artists" is selected back. I was expecting MB to memorise my last searched category as it does while it has not been closed. Is it possible ?

Thank you for your time reading, and thank you for your time answering ! :)

Not exactly what you're asking for, but an auto-playlist has the option to keep the track-list shuffled each time you select it.
(right click playlist > edit auto-playlist > shuffle > random)

To quickly access the playing track, you can display the filename's link in the right hand sidebar.
(right click sidebar header > customize panel settings > show track information > enable track details > show file url)

I think you're using the standard artwork view right? Have you tried grouping albums by album artist with the expanded menu?
(configure layout button > group by > album artist)
(right click main panel header > customize panel settings > show tracks for selected album > directly under selected album)
