Title: Getting filenames back
Post by: wedmiston on July 20, 2014, 08:59:27 PM
Awhile back my entire collection somehow became messed up and now all my files have names like "f104869847" If I use the tag lookup option in MusicBrainz Picard, I can see the real name and artist again, but how do I resave these files with the right names and artists? Can I do this in MB?

Assuming they're all properly tagged, you want to use "Send To>Organised Folder". This is easily customisable and saves our files to a template based on tag values.

Not sure I follow. Are you referring to MBee or Picard? Also, the files need to be renamed back to real names, not the f******** name I mentioned. Will this do that?

This is a command in MB. How were you files named before?

Pretty basic (Artist - song - album - track - disc)

MusicBee has a file organiser built in, that can reorganise and rename all/some of your library. You can look at the wiki page for more information: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Organization

Swearing won't help.
