Title: Artist ft. ________ is ruining my entire library.
Post by: mrSilkie on February 24, 2014, 02:39:58 PM
My library is just LITTERED to the point where it's unusable. Especially when i downloaded a UFK playlist a year or two ago and it's got 150 different artists. I need a function that will disable artists from being shown OR just literally show "UFK Dubstep" as the artist as i look through my music via artist.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

You may be interested in the Multiple Artist Splitter:

http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Tagging#Multiple_Tag_Splitter

You could, for instance, put both artists as split artists, but UFK Dubstep as the Display Artist.

The Additional Tagging & Reporting Tools plugin can help you automate splitting "feat" artists (take your time to learn how it works, or you could have a bigger mess):

Also, you could enter a Sort Artist for these tracks to keep them sorted the way you would like.  (This will require a custom sort order: http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Sorting_%26_Grouping)

If the naming of artists is consistent (it is always feat. that separates the artist and guest artist) then you can use virtual tags to make the feat.-part disappear. This is good if you don't want to edit the files themselves.

I hate this, I'd like if musicbee had one setting that just completely removed all 'ft' and 'feat' artists, though I imagine that's a bit tricky.

Have you tried boroda74's plugin? You can do that with advanced search & replace.

Or you could set the Album Artist to be Tiesto and use that instead. Album Artist defaults to Artist if there is no value entered.
