It would be cool to be able to export a playlist as a text (or similar) format list, including selected fields if possible. That would be useful for times when you want to save a list of songs and your ratings of them (for example, to share with a friend, or to tell a friend what you think of a list of songs without having to go through each song).

you can achieve something like that already - just select the tracks, right click then Send To > Clipboard
after which you can paste like normal
To control the format of the copied track information, its in the Now Playing Preferences: 'send to clipboard format' setting

Cool, I didn't know you could do that - but unfortunately "Rating" (and some other fields) are missing from the "send to clipboard format" setting. :(

just type in <Rating> in the format - its not intentional that its missing from the field selector

Is there a way to put special characters in there (like a "Tab" character)?

no - suggest for now you just use some character like | and then do a search and replace with a text editor
