Very nice indeed and really impressive for your first attempt. No suggestions from me, I'm very happy with and really appreciate all the work you've done. I was hoping someone would do a dark version of the Metro skins.

The best skim ever!! this should be the original interface of this music player, people today wants something like Deezer interface, Metro, Itunes store interface, I would like to konow how to make skims, I'm a desiner, I got so many ideas, but I dont know how to began...
Title: Re: DarkRED (based on Metro)
Post by: silvestreccf on December 06, 2013, 03:43:51 AM
More clean than this, impossible. The only thing I didn't like , was the compact player color, to much red, you should keep Grey light and dark in mind.

What about a White or light grey version. kind a Asylum version that is a very good skim.

there is a bug with v2.3 where in certain circumstances it wouldnt show 1 picture for the album and tracks layout. That should be fixed with this patch:

Still not working for me, on 2 different computers.

Screenshot (1) right after opening MusicBee (2) when I move the cursor around. http://i.minus.com/jmmn3Kpkbx0OZ.jpg

Only happens with my skin, so I'm guessing that it's my fault for reordering some of the elements inside the xml skin file. But in 2.2 it worked perfectly.

i can reproduce this now with your skin. Its due to the UseArtworkBorders setting (as a side note your picture border has only a very tiny difference in colour to the panel background)
This should fix it:

This is a really great looking skin, if it's not included by default it definitely should be.
Maybe it would be worth checking out variables (http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=6203.0) to make different color variations. It would take slightly more work with the bitmap version though.

One issue i found was with "Content[TrackDetail].ListAlternating.Disabled" fg color not matching "Content[TrackDetail].Body.Disabled"
which for example makes a list of not downloaded podcasts look like this:

edit: Also the Previous Track button in bitmap skin moves 1px to the left when highlighted.

I thought you would change the color of skim too dark for more cheerful colors. without getting too boring, the effect of the buttons on miniplayer not changed you still have plans to fix.

Finally, apart from that I think you have a final version of skim, let's hope it changes something in MusicBee 2.3.

sorry the english, this text was made with google traslate.

I'm really tempted by the Indigo version.  Nice!

I use Rescan Files, Edit Tags, Send to External Program (Album Art Downloader, to be specific), and Restart MusicBee.  Plus I have highlighting icons for FLAC (using star), MP3 (using check mark), Missing Tags, and Low Bitrate (using thumbs down).

You have to change them manually. I'm using:

Main player:
Segoe UI SemiLight 16pt

Compact Player:
Segoe UI Light 20pt (track)
Segoe UI Bold 10pt (artist)
Segoe UI Regular 9pt (album)

Mini Player:
Segoe UI Regular 11pt (track)
Segoe UI Regular 8pt (artist)

Ah, cheers!

One more question/request. I liked the way the progress bar options in Layout (2) worked in Red Flat. Any chance you could make the Metro version compatible with those settings? I like to use the "progress bar in middle" option since it makes the progress bar more compact. Would be great to have best of both worlds with the colours of Metro and the progress bar options from Flat. Of course, releasing the different colourways as Flat versions would be much easier.

I'm a little late discovering it, but this is by far the most gorgeous MusicBee skin I've seen. If the author is willing, I think Steven should consider making it the default skin, or at least one of the pre-packaged options. It's very clean, modern, and makes a great first impression on people who've never seen MusicBee before and might even think desktop media players are a thing of the past.

On toolbar icons, there are two that I use a lot, although I might be the only one:

- Playback: Play Library Shuffled
- Playback: Stop After Current

If you were inclined to add icons for these actions, I (if no one else) would be grateful. :)

What change in this version?

- Square top corners & 1px border on windows (almost unnoticeable)
- "DarkRED Flat" now doesn't have a black line below the progressbar
- Darker menus on caption bar
- More uniform colors & better contrast on selected items in dropdown menus
- Removed the line between albums on Now Playing "Album & Tracks" view
- Fixed panel colors on Compact Player when "overlay panels" is deactivated
- etc.

You will need the latest MusicBee update for some of the new changes

I really enjoy the theme - well made.

I do how every have a request/question, i made a mockup of i would love to see in this or like a edition of the theme :)

http://i.imgur.com/0KgHbCA.png

As seen i have made it more mono colored,  made the player a bit higher to make room for the title and some small icon change.

Again really love the original theme, i do hope you take this in to consideration :)

Question/Poll

I've made a version with alternating background colors on the Main Panel 'Album&Tracks' and 'Track Details' views, but I've tried to make it very faint. Download (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10773406/DarkRED%20Metro%20Alt.xmlc)

Which one do you prefer? This version or the original with a uniform background?

I like this version, and I would use it over the original.

Problem with the skins -- if you use the small icons for the W7 taskbar, the seek bar/time bar has the first portion underneath the start button, so you can't actually use the first part of it for seeking.

Thank you, this was my big complaint with the skin -- too hard to see when looking at rows and rows of songs.

Here is a screenshot of the problem I was mentioning with "Small Icons" on the W7 taskbar. The start buttons extends slightly above the taskbar in this case, and blocks a small portion of the seek bar. With the normal sized icons, it's works fine.

It's thumbnail browser. Update your MB to the latest version from the first topic of the forum.

You have 4 different options you can try:
- Put the player on the top pane of MusicBee
- Preferences > Layout (2) > Enlarge Progress Bar Height
- Use the large Windows taskbar
- Change the Windows Start Orb

Thanks for the fantastic skin. Definitely my skin of choice but still prefer version 1.1 without the alternating rows. In view of recent updates to v1.2 (optimized images, fixed animation on wait indicators etc.) I was wondering if the same improvements would be made to the version without alternating rows because file sizes appear to be the same as before.

Yeah, I prefer the 1.1 version because of the rows, its much cleaner, would be great to have an alternate version of 1.2 with the same background as 1.1.  ;D

As somebody who still prefers the clean look of the version without alternating rows, was wondering if there will be a version 1.3 to bring it up to date with MusicBee v2.4 ? Not sure if i'm a typical user but I stick with the default red colour so an update for the Dark Red flat & metro versions would be great. Thanks anyway for the great skin.

There is a problem with the podcasts list. Non downloaded episodes alternate colors.

The problem can be fixed in the flat version by changing this line:
  <element id="Content[TrackDetail].ListAlternating.Disabled" bg="40,40,40" fg="180,180,180" />
to:
  <element id="Content[TrackDetail].ListAlternating.Disabled" bg="40,40,40" fg="120,120,120" />
to match this line:
  <element id="Content[TrackDetail].Body.Disabled" bg="40,40,40" fg="120,120,120" />

Could you please fix this error in the metro version? Please  :'( I would do it on my own but I don't understand the .xmlc format.

The only skin I like better is your Win10 concept!

Ohhh, number 5 is very similar to 2.5 version of theme (which I currently use and love). So that would obviously be a good choice, although I reckon if you wanted to do something different and make it stand out from the previous version option 4 gives the best overall look for those who have their player at the top (me) and those who have their player at the bottom. Whereas the others tend to be best for only either top or bottom... If that makes any sense? Although a combination of 2 bottom, and 3/4 top would be best.

I was really rather enamoured by the design of this ->

Edit: I re-thought out my decision.

yes it will be. What dpi scale are you using eg. 150% and do you have "enlarge progress bar enabled" in the main player/ layout(1) preferences?

My DPI is set to 100%, i meant my surface pro 4 resolution is like 2736x1824 (QUAD HD maybe?). I didn't have the enlarge bar enabled, if i enable it makes the ellipse circle bigger, so it doesn't work either.

Thanks for the fix!  The border is now gone.  However, I noticed under the now playing tab how there's a lack of a contrasting color that distinguishes the "now playing" info on the lower right hand side with respect to the right hand column above it.  Maybe extending the transparency (or an illusion of it) turning the info box into a slightly darker shade of gray?

Thanks for the quick reply endeavour1934.  These skins look great!  Maybe I'm a little biased since "DarkRed Flat" has been my goto skin since day one, but I don't care.  Thank you for spending the time creating them.  They look better than ever now! :)

Title: Re: DarkRED

hi sorry to ask but would it be possible to have round album icons.

I'm using the round icons on the artists pictures and they are also used on the music explorer and similar artist but not in the album library or on the Now Playing album icon

I think it would look nicer if they were all round, rather than a mix of round and flat/squares.

if the album library can't have round icons would it be possible to have round icons on the Now Playing panel?

anyway thanks

Endeavor, I don't know if you do sort of "personal requests," but seeing as I can't edit the .xmlc file, I figured I'd ask.

Is there any way I can get a version of DarkRED with the Inbox number (number of songs in the Inbox) removed? It really bugs the shit out of me.

Endeavor, was the font you used Segoe ui, segoe ui emoji or segoe ui symbol. your font looks amazing, i really want to use it.

It's Segoe UI in 3 diferent font weights:

- Normal 9pt (default) on most of the interface. Normal 13pt for the player controls.
- Semibold 10pt on album titles. Semibold 9pt for selected tab.
- Semilight on a few places I can't remember :P

How is that even possible
You have to change them manually. I'm using:

"Main player:
Segoe UI SemiLight 16pt

Compact Player:
Segoe UI Light 20pt (track)
Segoe UI Bold 10pt (artist)
Segoe UI Regular 9pt (album)

Mini Player:
Segoe UI Regular 11pt (track)
Segoe UI Regular 8pt (artist)"

16 pt font!
20 pt font!
How is that even possible, thats huge!

If the option doesn't exist then you're probably not running the latest 3.0 version.  The latest is 3.0.5973.  See my sig.

Hi
There seems to be a slight vertical offset for the highlighting of a subscription row in the Podcast panel in MB 3.0: the orange part is not centered vertically (as it used to be in 2.5).
See here:

.xmlc skins are compiled - there is no xml available unless the author provides one to you and then you change and recompile it. The first post states that the flat version of the skin has xml available along with the link.

Hate to look like I'm asking an answered question, but does anybody have updated download links or mirrors for the .xml files? It looks like all the Dropbox files have been moved; they all just 404.

Cheers.

That's right for this skin at this moment. Now wave bar option is supported for bitmap skins as well, but the skinner has to implement it.

I meant the person who created the skin. If many people make such a request, the skinner would consider it because it's now possible technically.

With 6833, the first time I updated in over a month, I noticed that the ratings and fav buttons shifted over to the left of the track playing panel on all DarkRED flat skins, shown in the first image below.  Is there a way to revert back to having these buttons back on the right hand side like before, shown in the second image below (the contrasting color issue was fixed long ago, so please ignore that).

Does anyone know which skin this could be?(I wasn't sure where to post it, this seemed best place)

In the folder where musicbee.exe is installed, create a sub-folder called "Icons" and unzip them into that folder.

Very nice theme, the only one I love to use. Any other colors will come? I would appreciate some neutral theme, like grey or white instead of blue etc. Or is it possible to make it adaptible? I mean, the color will change with every cover art of track that plays? I see Android player GoneMAD has something like this, every specific cover has it's color that is somehow automatically set and the player's theme is changing depending on this.
