Title: Track #s out of order in main window.
Post by: falbury on June 20, 2025, 03:40:10 PM
New to Music Bee. Very powerful program but a bit of a learning curve.

I was a computer consultant in a past life so I consider myself Computer Savvy

Story: I have a Sony CDP-CE500 5-Disc CD Changer that rips CDs to a thumb drive, 5 at a time. On the thumb drive each CD is put in it's own folder labeled CDDA003, CDDA004, etc. In each folder the songs are labled TRACK001, TRACK002, Etc. So I bring the thumb drive to my laptop and drag the folders into a folder in my Music Folder called "New unlabled music" 30+ folders at a time. I read about an "inbox" that it might be a better way to import these "no metadata songs". Can this also be addressed in an answer.

I then launch Music Bee and those "no meta data songs show up as "Unknown" 26 Albums worth. I select that folder and sort by "Album and Track" and and I see 26 albums with the tracks (out of order). I can launch a song and identify the Artist, Song, etc but can't "Auto Tag by Album" because the tracks are not in the order they are on my hard drive. The order they were recorded in from the CD. I tried dragging them into the correct order to no avail. NO dragging.

I have not changed any preferences in MB. Do I need too? Also this happens no matter how I sort in MB, . It's not even "upside down" it's random. And all the sorting options refer to the metadata, that does not exist.

I want MB to show the songs in the order they appear in my hard drive. Basically numerical order.  Seems basic to me.

I have one or two other questions but will leave them for another thread. For now this would be huge.

I think I'm very good at explaining things but I may be able to figure out screen shot inclusion. (https://imgur.com/Q1Iwlwy)(http://or

in the "tracks" view right-click any header, and select "set displayed fields", then drag-n-drop "url" from left list to the right one, then sort by "url".

Thank you very much for your quick response. You pointed me in the right direction. I needed the "Album and Tracks" view in order to keep the tracks from the correct folders. However in the "Albums and tracks" view when you select the "Sort By" pop down you can select "URL" there as well. Presto Chango Everything is in numerical order.

I never would have found that myself or even stumbled across it. Thank you again (boroda)
