Is there any documentation for the API?
Specifically, for describing the various fields in MusicBeeInterface.cs (e.g. FilePropertyType has "Kind" and "Status" - what are those?)
I found the following page, but there's currently no useful information on it...

I just saw this thread: https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=17136.0
(Apparently the forum search is case sensitive - searching for "api" does not match "API" ... except it did find this thread (https://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=3864.msg20993#msg20993) so it must have been a different issue.)
there is only the very basic C# sample included in the API download pack. I dont think you would have any problems understanding what each call does
I suggest you also look at the various open source plugins as well
Has anything changed in the past 10 years, or is the C#/VB samples all there is?
Can anyone recommend a specific plugin that provides information about the various fields?

I can't answer your question, but I can advise you that the forum search is rather skimpy. A forum member created a dedicated MB search via Google. See the link in my signature below and bookmark it for future MB searches.

Thanks. I don't use Google, but using a domain filter with DuckDuckGo (by adding "site:https://getmusicbee.com/" to search terms) didn't give any relevant hits.

You don't have to log in to Google to use the dedicated search. Click the link in my sig, enter your search term(s) and you're presented with results.

If one uses Google's services - whether logged in or not - they are subject to Google's Privacy Policy, and they are empowering Google by providing more data.
I do not want to do that - no matter how insignificant a single search by a single person might be; when there are alternatives, I will use them instead. If enough people feel the same way, maybe Google's monopoly will slowly erode and they will return to being just one of many.

While I am no fan of Google and all that it is (I regularly use DDG as my search engine) the results you get from the forum search box will be varied and incomplete. As you have already seen.

I do not want to do that…
Not valuing your stance on this, but do realise that if you refuse to use the available custom forum search (https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=426af386625354430#gsc.tab=0) option as a good method for finding useful posts and information about MusicBee, but instead prefer to ask questions that could easily have been answered if you had, that will be an unnecessary burden on the forum and its members.
Your choice, obviously.
