Title: MusicBee crashes when UAC is prompted
Post by: Thunderbird1 on January 26, 2025, 10:35:26 AM
https://streamable.com/4i360u <-- Visual replication
Whenever I run anything as admin MusicBee stops working, I would like to just reinstall the program but I am afraid of losing the order of music in my library since I sort by date added, so I would like to fix this, any suggestions?

Why are you running MB as admin?
Don't.

FYI- the relevant text in your video screenshot is too small for me to read.

This happens even if i'm not running MusicBee as admin but it's because if another game is running over it sometimes my special play/pause key won't work, and can't you just zoom into the video? and the only relevant thing is what I've put in the post, that's what I described, that's what happened in the video

All I can say is that it is not recommended to run MB as admin.

Perhaps someone else will be able to comment further.

In musicbee
Help->Support->View Error Log
If there is errors listed in there paste the last error here.

If the error log is blank, push Windows Key+R, type in eventvwr and hit enter.

In the left hand menu
Windows logs-Applications.

See if there is an entry with a red exclamation mark icon and look for Musicbee listed in the general tab, paste that here.

Good chance that is caused by a plugin. Maybe try disabling all your plugins and see if it still occurs. If not, turn them back on one at a time until it does.

Another option is lowering the UAC level.
Windows key + R
Type in Control Panel and hit enter
Click User Accounts
Click Change User Account Control Settings
Move the slider on the left down one notch and click Ok.

This doesn't remove the UAC prompts but it does mean it's not a secure window anymore which is a security risk. Disabling the plugins did nothing but lowering that bar worked, many thanks!
