While moving some stuff around (not the music), all at once my Music Bee program couldn't find the library. So I deleted it and rescanned, still no go. I think what happened was the library was from the backup copy on the C Drive where it should have been hooked to the working copy on the F Drive.
I deleted the backup copy on the C Drive because I had it in several different places. So, nothing else worked, and I uninstalled MusicBee. Then tried to load MusicBee 3.3 update 5 from the website (I deleted all the other zip files from earlier versions). Now the program comes up with an error that it is unable to open the musicbee.exe file and refuses to finish installing.
What am I doing wrong?

Since you're starting over from scratch, first make sure that all previous installs of MusicBee are gone, including any MusicBee folder in the user/appdata/roaming folder. I assume you have all your actual music files safely backed up elsewhere. This time download the Portable version from here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/kqjmte5k73hlwa3/MusicBeePortable_3_3_Update5.zip/file (https://www.mediafire.com/file/kqjmte5k73hlwa3/MusicBeePortable_3_3_Update5.zip/file) . Unzip, run the excutable inside and point the install to a folder outside of the Windows/Program Files hierachy, like "C:\MusicBee". Then, run the MusicBee.exe file from within that directory and when the create a library dialog comes up point it at whatever folder your music files are in now. Also, be sure the MusicBee folder is excluded from any antivirus applications you may be running.

That worked! Thank you!
Also based on early listening, it seems to have solved the 'same songs played over and over' problem from earlier, too! I am hearing songs that haven't played in months!
Big win!

Glad to hear it! You can also now use the latest update patches, which provide the latest fixes and improvements to the full version you have already installed. Download them from the link below (also available from the Global Moderator's signatures on any of their posts), and extract the entire contents directly into the folder you installed MusicBee into, letting it overwrite any existing files:

I had a topic here the other day but can't find it now. I installed MusicBee but was advised to start it in portable or minimum... now I can't find the .exe file to start it. It is not in the MusicBee folder. Where else should I look?

You can always go to your profile and click "see posts" to look up previous posts.
Can you post a screenshot of where you would expect to find musicbee.exe?

What folder did you install the Portable version TO? The one I linked you to in my previous post that you said fixed your problems? That's where it is. If you forgot what folder you installed it to (I had suggested C:\MusicBee), just do a File Explorer search for MusicBee.exe. Assuming you removed all the previous versions you had before this install, that will show you where it resides now.

Ok, I found the start dealie but now the library has crashed again. It says a library must be loaded but says it can't find any .mbl files anywhere. This is getting frustrating. Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Can you find the mbl file manually? If so, hold shift when you start MusicBee and you can point MB to the file.
