Title: Sound is distorted
Post by: stardepp on December 27, 2018, 03:11:28 PM
I updated today on MusicBee 3.3.6934 and since then my sound has been disturbed. If I listen to a title, it is overlaid by the same title for 30 seconds. So I hear the current title and this is disturbed by a dissolve of the same title, that sounds crazy.

I disabled the equalizer and also changed the sound output of the direct sound in Wasapi, but that did not fix the bug.

What can I do to eliminate this problem?

Is anyone else having this issue?

No, Youtube music and Spotify music sound normal.

I just disconnected my Bluetooth headphones from Windows and reconnected them and now the music is back to normal and of very good quality.

If the error should reappear, I'll contact you again.

I've had the same issue on Windows with Bluetooth headphones. It affected MusicBee and Spotify at different times.

The issues were resolved through a Windows Update of the Bluetooth stack.

I don't think this issue has to do with MusicBee itself.

Even if I play the music through speakers, the music is output incorrectly.

By "incorrectly", do you mean the same thing you described in your initial post when you had the headphone issue which went away(?)?  How are your speakers connected to your PC?  Have you tried updating your audio drivers from the device manufacturer?  I am using 3.3.6934 and don't have the issue (Windows7SP1, WASAPI-Exclusive).

Yes, I mean the same problem as my first post. I meant the built-in speakers in my notebook. I use Windows 10 Pro 1809, MusicBee 3.3.6934

Have you tried updating the audio drivers from the device manufacturer (not Windows Update)?

Yes, but I've checked all audio drivers for updates over the Windows Device Manager. All drivers were up to date.

OK, but I assume WDM only checks if the version matched the latest Microsoft-pushed driver.  Go to the website of the sound card (or board/laptop) manufacturer and see what is the latest offered there for Windows 10, and if an uninstall/reinstall using those drivers fixes the issue.  If there is no problem using the headphones, I don't know how MusicBee could be the reason.

After some playbacks MB start in "double" mode. I hear 2 file's/songs from the same record/directory.

Only way to stop that is stop and restart MB.

It occurs with the last update 3.3.6932

Windows 8.1

My notebook is from the year 2012 and therefore there are no new drivers anymore (the most recent driver on the manufacturer side is from 2014).

But I tried something else:

I downloaded MusicBee from the Windows 10 Store and heard about 2 hours of music today and I could not detect any sound distortion with this version of MusicBee.

can both of you send me a link to your settings file from v3.3 (help/ support/ view settings)

After some playbacks MB start in "double" mode. I hear 2 file's/songs from the same record/directory.
is this when you first start a song eg. using double click, or after some time when a new song starts automatically? Is it the same song that is playing twice or the previous song and current song mxed together.

This time direct after the first song. I hear song 2 and 3. Indicator jump from 1 to 3.

Stop playback and start a song is enough. Quit MB is not necessary.

Start 3. Then next 4 and 5.

Playback with the latest 3.3.6935

Yesterday, with 3.3.6932, it was not direct after the 1st.

Sorry, i must figure out where to park the settings file.

With a autoplaylist with short songs (< 1:00) its only happened as de songs are in track order. Direct after each other in a album.

You both have "load entire file into memory" and cross-fading enabled. Ater long usage with stardepp's settings i could not reproduce any issues.
However I have made a change, so see if this works:

Good, I have deactivated the transition and installed the update. Thank yours for your help.
I will tell you how MusicBee 3.3 continues to behave.

Thank you Steven.

But, with the new download 3.3.6936

Full in mem ON - Crossfade ON = Double play

Full in mem OF - Crossfade ON = Double play

Full in mem OF - Crossfade OF = Single play

Full in mem ON - Crossfade OF = Single play

I like the Crossfade. Can you restore it?

I cant reproduce this using your settings, however try unticking "remove starting and ending silence" in the player preferences to see if it helps.
And when you say "double play" can you be more precise what you mean by that. eg. does it play two instances of the same song but with some gap and if so, what is the gap (the crossfade period?)

still try the test i requested but i suspect it happens when the next track is from the same album and you have "do not crossfade tracks from the same album enabled"

edit:
I am pretty sure this is the reason and will make a new version available after some more testing

With the latest 3.3.6937 it seems oke.

File in mem is enabled
Crossfade is enabled
Not crossfade album is enabled
Skip silence is enabled

I mean with double play, playback 2 different songs in the same time. Next plus the next+1. That is over now. Tested with the same library and songs.

Thank you Steven
