Title: Cue file not being read
Post by: metabaron on July 28, 2016, 05:14:34 AM
Have a problem with a cue file not being read. Can't figure out what is wrong. The filename in cue is same as ape file in the same folder.
I've run the CueTools and it seems to convert ok, so I don't know why MusicBee is not able to recognize the files. I've re-checked everything many times.

I once had the same issue a few months ago with MB3. It wouldn't recognize cue files at all. I don't remember how I resolved it but I tried lots of things like removing and re-importing those to inbox or to library directly. Somehow I managed to work it out and since that moment it's had no problem at all reading whatever kind of cue files.

I just did some tests. If a cue file is not in the same folder when MB imports a file, then MB won't split the file even if you add the cue file later. Rescanning the file/folder doesn't work. To fix this, move the file and its cue file to another folder so that it gets removed from MB's database, and then move them back to the original location to import. This time MB correctly splits it.

the cuesheet name and the music filename refered to within the cuesheet needs to have the same name

Of course.

Another issue is even if you remove a cue file, MB keeps splitting the file. Rescanning doesn't fix it.

I confirm. It would be nice, to fix it.

rescanning should remove the cuesheet from the MB database, however there is a bug which i have fixed for the next patch update where MB doesnt reset the duration and the play start/end time. Also you need to press F5 to reload the main panel, which i will address for v3.1 so the refresh is automatic

Thanks, now rescanning detects files with a removed cue file and updates main panel via refreshing.

But this part has not been addressed.

When you're testing this, make sure to change its filename (both music file/cue file and music file name in cue file) before into something unknown to MB's database. If you're using the same filename already known to MB then MB detects the later-added cue file after rescanning the folder, but if you use a new filename, rescanning doesn't detect a cue file added later.

Got it to work somehow, by combination of rename, removing and restarting of MB. Not sure in the end what exactly was wrong.
