Title: Bee78 "retro" skin
Post by: Bee-liever on October 20, 2012, 06:03:01 AM
ATTENTION!
This skin has been updated for use with MusicBee 3.3 beta.
It is not compatible with version 2.5 or earlier.
Wave Bar feature is only available if using 3.1 version or later.
Background image is only selectable with 3.2 version or later.

I hadn't made a black-based dark skin, because I couldn't think of anything new that wasn't already in the dark skins currently available.
But I was playing some old jazz 78's and inspiration struck! Not something new, but something old re-done!

:) I love this skin! This is one of my favorites...

Just one small problem: when the Spectrum is disabled, a piece of your artwork goes missing.

Thanks!

Welcome Bee-side, and thanks for letting me know
I never noticed that when I was testing it.
I've also found a few minor colour problems that I missed as well, so I'll fix the artwork and have a new version up soon  :)

Wow.  Bee-liever this looks absolutely terrific.  So much so that I started playing a bunch of rpm 78s on YouTube.  Reminds me of the Victrola my parents had when I was younger.  Needless to say, I've been having a blast. :)

As for your album art, was musicbee able to find them or did you have to copy/paste them into the file?  I was wondering the same about the lyrics.  Lastly, can one even buy cds with a scratchy rpm 78 sound?
Title: Re: Bee78 "retro" skin
Post by: Bee-liever on February 26, 2013, 10:09:32 AM
Glad you're having fun, browm77  :)
The album art is mainly from RateYourMusic. I don't think any player will find online art for 78's.
Most of the oldies lyrics can be found @ http://lyricsplayground.com/index.html (http://lyricsplayground.com/index.html)
Most of those old gems have been digitized, re-processed, de-noised, de-hissed and de-clicked to within an inch of their lives for release on CD. But I do recommend the De-Stereo DSP plug-in (http://www.winamp.com/plugin/destereo-plug-in/49910) to remove that bad "fake-stereo" found on some CD's.

It's amazing to think that it's not yet the centenary of electric recording, and we're on a forum, working out problems in our digital collections.  Scared or astounded at what another 100 years may bring?

Bee-liever, you might want to have a look at this topic:

Quote
Ignore my request. It seems the skin I was using (Bee78) is what was causing the problem of mot being able to see the tracks. Simply switching back to the default skin allows me to see all of the tracks which is exactly what I need.

Perhaps a small update is needed, but it could be a false alarm as well.

Will make a change so disabled tracks don't blend so closely with the background colour when not highlighted

;)Anytime. I was very surprised & extremely stoked to find this skin, usually skins for things are boring & bland, nothing ever like this 98% of the time. I love it even more today than yesterday!

I'd love to check out the source files if you don't mind, maybe I could make a skin of my own with them. I do better having a complete template where I can just switch out certain things if I want. Dunno if you'd mind that.

Hello,

Even this is an old thread I'ld like to ask if the source code and the skineditor are still available. None of the links in the first post of this topic seem to work. This is a very nice skin ... my favourite so far. I'ld like to change the font-color to give it a bit more contrast.

Looking forward to answers

source files are now available from the Add-Ons section (a link is provided in the first post)

please note this is an updated version and not exactly as included in MB3.0

I made a few changes as I had lost some of the images used (drive crash and faulty W10 back up)

At least on my computer, there's a weird annoyance in the latest version of the Bee78 skin. Whenever I skip forward or backward in a track with the mouse pointer on the progress bar, it never skips to the place that I click on. Instead, it always skips nearly a centimeter to the left of where I click. This doesn't happen in any other skin (even the older versions of Bee78).

Does anyone know what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

It's the result of how I overcame a problem with using .svg images for the progress bar infill.
I'm currently trying to fix this for the 3.2 final release.

Does this mean that if you fix the problem in time, the fixed version of Bee78 will automatically be included with the next MusicBee update?

I usually just automatically update through the patches. Would I have to manually install the new version of Bee78?

Patches don't contain any skins. You'd have to either download 3.2 when it goes final or simply download the skin when it's fixed. Either way is painless. Download 3.2 and just install over your existing installation. Or just install the fixed skin over the old one.

My understanding is that Steven will release a 3.2 Windows Store version when 3.2 is in final release.

Bee78 has always had a stop button.
It's disguised as the decorative finial on the RH side of the 'next' button.
If you mouse-over when a track is playing you will see that it highlights  :)

This does not work with Mouse Over, but with a right click it only appears, see screenshot. That's not very practical. Is a visible stop button not feasible?

Hi! I've spend many hours looking for the perfect skin an I settled for Bee78 and I've been using it for a few years now and I'm loving it. I just upgraded MB and I so happy to find that not only is there an update to my favourite skin, Steven has also included it with MB!

I have a question though, I see that the skin now works with waveforms, but when I change my progress bar into a waveform it appears to shift some things around:

(https://i.ibb.co/7NW6RtW/Untitled.png) (https://ibb.co/7NW6RtW)

I don't know how you make skins but I am a programmer and I don't mind tweaking it myself if you would guide me how to do it.

Thank you!

Hi JieXian I'm currently working on an update of Bee78 for MB3.3.
It has fixes for a few issues with the waveform.
Shouldn't be too much longer before I have it finished.

Ok, looking forward to it! :)

Also, I used to be able to click the name of the now playing track on the "main player" panel, and I will be able to perform the "locate playing track at source". Now I can't seem to do it anymore with the new version of Bee78, as the now playing track name is overlapped by the progress bar.

Thank you.

I think that got changed to right-click> Locate Playing Track in Current Tab

Post by: JieXian on December 05, 2018, 07:52:43 AM
Yes, but this is only the case for the Bee78 skin. For other skins (including the default MB theme) I can click on the name of the playing track and I don't have to do "right click->Locate Playing Track at Source".

I really wish I could do it, because I've grown accustomed to clicking on the name all the time. Perhaps it could be mapped to the sides of the decorative progress bar like you have done with the stop button?

Thank you :)

Hi,
I've been using this skin for a while (and it looks great!), but I recently noticed that the forward skip button on the main player is a bit larger than the other buttons, and ends up a bit misaligned as a result. Removing and reinstalling MusicBee has no effect, nor does downloading the skin itself and replacing the version packaged with MusicBee. Here's an image of the problem. (https://imgur.com/UKtqKor). I'm not quite sure what else to try in order to correct this. Thanks!
