I have MusicBee 3.0. I'm new to anything related to storing and playing music.

I sometimes see a useful left pane that contains.

    Music
    Podcasts
    Audiobooks
    etc

    Playlists
    etc

What's the correct way to display this pane? I can display it by clicking "+" for new tab, but are there other ways?

When that pane is displayed, I click on the pin at the top, hoping to permanently pin it. But if I select a different tab, the left pane disappears again.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks.

the left sidebar can be hidden, hidden but auto-opens when you hold the mouse to the left edge of MB (the default) or set to stay open.
That applies individually to each tab.
There are several ways to configure the behaviour - i suggest you click the Panel Layout button to the left of the search box and take it from there

I found the answer to my query in the wiki:
http://musicbee.wikia.com/wiki/Left_Sidebar#Left_Sidebar

The key quote is:

it will pop up when your mouse is at the left edge of the window

There were 17 views of my post without reply. So I'm glad that I might be able to help some people to display the left sidebar.
