The setup I have is to load the list of songs I want to play into the "Playing Tracks" queue. I have random set to enabled (random settings set to, er, random). Occasionally, however, there is a particular song I'd like to play immediately. So, the expected behaviour is to double-click on the song from within the "Playing Tracks" list and have it play. However, it seems the default settings are kinda barmy. Either loading a duplicate into the list and playing that (so every time I play a specific song, it adds another copy into the Playing Tracks list), or wiping the whole list and leaving just that one song.
The only way I can get it to play as desired is with the following settings in the "Now Playing" tab.
If playback is stopped: Play Now
When tracks are playing: Play Now
Play Now action: queue selected tracks next and play now.
However, this seems to introduce a bug, and throws the "Playing Tracks" list out of sync. It will result in the correct track playing (and the correct displaying in the "Track Information" section). However, the track that is highlighted in the "Playing Tracks" queue (with my choice of coloured text as well as the little speaker icon) is... completely random. It is not the track that is currently playing. It is not the track that would play next if you hit "next track". It is not the previous track played. It is completely random. The correct track, however, is highlighted in the main window.
Also, when I highlight a track I wish to remove from the Playing Tracks list and press the Delete key... it deletes a random song from the list, not the one I wanted to remove. It also... shuffles the remaining tracks within the given sort group (ie: I have the sort for Playing Tracks set to "Artist/ Album" so it shuffles the individual tracks within an album, but keeps the artist & album order consistent across multiple artists with multiple albums). I've discovered that this only seems to work as expected when you leave the sort format of the Playing Tracks section as default (playlist order, ie: no sorting).
Just... what.
