Nexus 6P "Device not ready" - cannot sync

Hello.
I just started using MusicBee - just imported my iTunes library this morning.
I tried to sync a playlist to my Nexus 6P, but got the error message "device not ready." I can see everything on the device in the navigator window, but I must be missing something. Has this been reported before?

Did you remember to put the phone in file transfer mode?
