Hello everyone,
I'm a music lover beyond his 40s with an awesome music library  ;) First off I'd just like to state my admiration for MusicBee which has now totally replaced Winamp on my computer. I still need to get used to all features of MusicBee but here's one thing that on my wish-list.

Actually this idea/wish does not pertain to the program itself, but to the functionality in Windows. It would be great to introduce registry commands which would enable commands like "play", "enqueue as next", etc. from the Windows (file) Explorer. Currently - when I make a right mouse click on any music file - I cannot directly send that file to MusicBee. I think this wouldn't be hard to do. Thank s a lot and keep up the good work!

Welcome to the forum,

That's already easy achievable without any registry hacks;
Go to Edit> Preferences> General, and tick 'enable MusicBee in Windows Explorer and context menus'.
Then you should have exactly what you are wishing for.

Download the latest MusicBee v3.5 or 3.6 patch from here.
Unzip into your MusicBee directory and overwrite existing files.

Off topic - despite reading the 'how to' a million times, I can -never- get a screen shot to appear in my post.  I've tried surrounding the link with img and /img (in brackets) and it just doesn't ever show.

Offtopic reply to phred,

I have been using this tool for a long time:
http://imguruploader.codeplex.com/releases/view/40965

After installation you get a right click menu entry for images 'send to Imgur'.
I then choose as format 'Message Board Lines', and then 'copy upload information to clipboard'.
Paste that link in your post and you're done.

Thanks - I'll give it a try.

EDIT:
WOW!!  Works like a charm.
+1 beer to hiccup.

Also, you will probably have to run as administrator for this to work.

Yes, indeed... it works fine!  :) I wasn't aware of that yet, so thanks a lot! Only one more tiny detail: It would be great if MusicBee generates a different icon (in the Windows file explorer) for a m3u playlist than for the actual music files. (wav, mp3, flac, etc.). That way a user would not accidentally add just a file instead an entire playlist m3u file.

Thank again!

Take a look at this, in the Icons sub-forum under Customizations:
http://getmusicbee.com/forum/index.php?topic=2494.msg17204#msg17204
Would that serve your purpose?  If so, you can assign each file-type icon through WIndows.

You might want to look through the entire Icons sub-forum as there's some pretty creative stuff in there.

Going OT here, but changing icons can be most easily done through programs designed for it. I personally use File Types Manager (easy tutorials on the internet as well).
Bold words in my posts are links unless expressly stated otherwise.

Hello everyone,
because of this thread I nicely got MusicBee to work the way I wanted it on my Win7 system. Trying the same on a newer Win8 laptop causes some problems: I started MusicBee with admin rights and made the change in the preferences section. Unfortunately in the Windows explorer there is no possibility to add a play list as either "next" or at the "latest" in the play window of MB (as in the graphic that phred shared).

I'm fairly sure this is due to Win8 but does anyone of you maybe know how to work around this problem and get the functionality anyway? Thank you in advance!
